What is Arimidex used for?
Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor used to treat hormone receptor-positive breast and ovarian cancer. Arimidex is a 5α-reductase inhibitor, which reduces the amount of estrogen in the body. It can also reduce the risk of cancer recurrence in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast and ovarian cancer.
Currently, there are no known drug interactions between Arimidex and other drugs. However, your healthcare professional may be able to tell you if this medicine is compatible with your particular medicines.
However, you should not take Arimidex if you are taking other types of hormonal contraceptives (including estrogens, and anastrozole) for 3 months or more. Arimidex may cause increased ovarian stimulation and therefore may increase your risk of multiple pregnancy.

The Arimidex tablet is used to treat hormone-dependent breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Aromatase inhibitors reduce estrogen levels by preventing an enzyme in adipose tissue from converting other hormones into estrogen. This medication helps to delay the recurrence of early-stage breast cancer.
The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, itching, inflammation of the joints (arthritis), bone loss (osteoporosis), bleeding from the vagina, hypersensitivity, and joint, stomach, and kidney pain.
If you are allergic to Anastrozole or its ingredients, tell your doctor before starting treatment with this medication. Tell your doctor if you are still experiencing menstruation and have not yet reached menopause, have osteoporosis, or have any liver or kidney problems. Your doctor may monitor you for signs of side effects after taking this medicine.
Take Arimidex 1mg with a glass of water (200 mg per glass) and your blood pressure should be checked. If blood pressure is not completely controlled, your doctor may lower the dosage to 1mg every 4 to 6 weeks. If blood pressure is controlled but your doctor feels that the dosage is not seeing an improvement, your doctor may start you at a lower dose (e.g. 1mg every 6 to 8 weeks). If blood pressure is not controlled, your doctor may lower the dosage to 0.5mg every 6 to 8 weeks. Do not take your medicine more often than once every 6 to 12 weeks (do not divide it).
Important:Arimidex 1mg is not recommended for use in women of child-bearing age (except for adolescents). Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you have:
High blood pressure who are immunocompromised who have had prior treatment with radiation therapy or hematotherapy.
